Fabrication Operative

We are looking to employ an experienced Plastic Fabricating Operative to work in a busy environment in the West of Newcastle upon Tyne.

As an operative, you will be assisting with the manufacture of Plastic curtains in the automatic doors industry.

• The role will be initially assisting in the fabrication of plastic curtains for high-speed doors, with a view to being trained to complete fabrication independently.
• You will be responsible accurately cutting to size plastic curtain material and utilising a high frequency welding machine to produce finished curtains.
• Lifting and loading parts
• Be able to follow drawings
• Be able to measure and cut parts accurately to avoid waste.
• Work independently upon training on the machine and how to measure and cut the curtains.

Applicants will need to

• Ability to work to drawings and follow job sheets
• Understanding of technical documents and drawings
• General fabrication knowledge and experience
• Must be able to work off own initiative with little supervision and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of hand tools and plastics to fabricate units following a job sheet.
• Inspecting materials and parts to ensure high standards maintained
• Reading engineering drawings to design fabrication solutions for various customers
• Be detail-orientated with a methodical approach to working
• Manual skills and a steady hand
• A good level of fitness and resilience
• Knowledge of basic safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing
